HITEX or Gachibowli - Better Venue for Tollywood Vajrotsavam???

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Vajrotsavam is certainly going to be a very privately held affair…

I am not wrong… just imagining millions of people wanting to enter the venue if given chance to see their favorite stars in full glory. But that is not going to happen as the selection of the venue and the ticket pricing is proving to be a major impediment. I have reasoned out why the prices should have been lower in my previous article here.

Now I want my readers to ponder over as to why the current venue that cannot hold so many thousands of willing people was selected in the first place. Gachibowli stadium could have been the ideal choice as it can hold thousands of stars and fans. And the venue fee is just estimated at around Rs.60, 000/- for a day’s event. It cost around Rs.4, 00,000/- for the HITEX venue. I think you now better understood what I meant all by this.

I can certainly smell something cooking behind all this… do you???

Be Rich or Famous to attend Tollywood Vajrotsavam…

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Now… let me make this clear to you all… Vajrotsavam is not an event that many of us can attend. I would attend this event only if it is what it promises to be… a glamorous, star studded and enough golden age stars that I always wanted to see… By the way the tickets are priced at Rs.2,000/- for a regular pass, Rs.5,000/- for an executive pass, and Rs.10,000/- for a premier pass. I think these prices are way too high.

Let me give you the reason as to why these prices matter… The organizers promised that this event would be a celebration of the Telugu film industry’s 75 years. So every one related to the industry… that is from a Star to a Light boy, from a Producer to a Junior artiste would be able to feast their eyes with the celebratory extravaganza. But… my dear readers just tell me how can a junior artiste or a light boy who sometimes work without payments (Yes… many times the producers either delay or cut through these poor people’s payments…) can afford to spend their hard earned money to participate in this costly event.

So I don’t think I am wrong in saying that this event is only for the rich and famous…

TOLLYWOOD VAJROTSAVAM is here…

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

At last the day has come when Tollywood has completed 75 years. A brand new website informing the event schedule and other information on event proceedings has been launched and can be reached at TOLLYWOOD75

The event is planned to be a collective effort of all those concerned with the Telugu film industry and is touted to become a historical event. During the event, not only the noted Tollywood celebrities but also many celebrities from other states and film industries are expected to be present and multiply the glamour and celeb quotient. The event will take place on 26th, 27th, 28th January at Hyderabad International Convention Center. About 70 noted film personalities from various languages would be honored during this historical event.

Governor Rameswar Tagore will start the event on 26th. Dasari Narayana Rao, Ambarish, Purandareswari, D.Ramanaidu will attend the event on 27th. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, central minister Priyaranjan Das Mushi, Adi Seshagiri Rao and others will attend the closing day. A total of 75 will be honored during this event marking the 75 years. This includes 4 legends. A celebrity museum will also start on this day. The museum will have the items, costumes and some memorabilia belonging to various artists.

Although the organizers are claiming that this event would be a major melting point of the industry and no one would miss the event, the steep ticket prices ensure that many junior artists and the like would be missing from the event. The tickets are priced at 10 thousand rupees for Premier pass, 5 thousand rupees for first class, and 2 thousand rupees for the regular pass. But in any case I am eagerly looking forward to this event…

When Devi Sri Prasad Steals…

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Hey guys, I saw an interview of Devi Sri prasad yesterday about the year gone by… and his hits…

I certainly acknowledge that Devi is one of the brightest musicians of Telugu cinema in recent times. In fact he has given some memorable compositions like Sontham, Anandam, Khadgam, Varsham, Bommarillu, Arya and many more…

But I was furious to hear him talk about the hard work behind the hit song “Rang rappa…(Holi song…)” from Rakhi. The reason for my fury was that he was quick to claim the hard work but left the theft(…so called inspiration) part behind. Some of U might have already observed that this particular song is like continuation of the famous NOKIA N Series advertisement. I agree that Devi worked hard on the percussion part by using iron drums, plastic cans and sundry but the output belies all that and sounds at least 75% like the mentioned ad, if not more. In fact the whole exhilarating drumming sequence with very high notes even though beautifully done by Devi, was copied from that ad. Mere coincidence is unlikely, as the ad came out just a couple of months before the release of the movie. When will our Tollywood people start acknowledging their sources…?

KALCHAs YOGI Box-Office Prediction…

Monday, January 15th, 2007

Yogi is again one of the easiest to predict… Actually it makes me wonder as to which decade this movie belongs to? During the 1980s we used to bear the torture of many of these so called mother sentimental drama flicks… but since then, humans species have matured enough to reject them and I feel Tollywood audience are among them… And no prizes to any one for guessing my prediction… ‘Coz even a kindergarten student can predict this…

IN A NUTSHELL: Huge first day collections and there ends the party… ‘Coz before the week ends it is out of many theaters to even start a publicity campaign reporting fake collections to boost the box-office… So it would end up as another Prabhas’s never ending series of disasters…

KALCHAs DESAMUDURU Box-Office Prediction…

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Desamuduru disappointed me and how… It was the one among the most anticipated releases of the year and proved to have touched rock bottom with the creative aspect… Except for the effort of Allu Arjun with his looks… everything about this movie is forgettable… But does it translate into box-office debacle… Read on…

In a Nutshell: Desamuduru will open huge… would do wonders in the Nizam area (a strong hold of Chiranjeevi group)… Even though it wouldn’t be appreciated much by the public for its lackluster content… it would be Allu Arjun’s biggest hit and believe me… when I say it would even surpass Indra and Simhadri but would not reach Pokiri’s gross collections.
You might wonder how the hell is this possible… Well the answer lies with Puri Jagannath. He made an above ordinary, technically flawed and uncreative Pokiri (which was surely a success material… I must agree) into Tollywood’s biggest grosser of all time…

Bala “Krishna” Express is delayed…

Wednesday, January 10th, 2007

Poor chap!!! producer Vakada Apparao declared that Balakrishna and his movie Maharadhi is out of Sankranthi race. Fans of Balakrishna, might be very disappointed over the prolonged delay for the release of Maharadhi.

As U all might already know, it’s official that the movie can at best release for this month end slots. Producer Vakada Apparao might be citing other technical delays… but the facts are out in the open that the delay is in fact due to the lack of theatres or the lack of buyers.

In fact two of the much anticipated movies in recent times has been Yogi and Desa muduru. Yogi is being directed by the sensational hit maker V.V.Vinayak with the young and macho Prabhas being the title bearer. Desa Muduru is being directed by Puri Jagannath… and we all can understand the reason for him being red hot after Pokiri. The title role is being portrayed by the hard working (a rear breed in the industry) and who is deservedly one of the better actors of the Telugu film industry, Allu Arjun. So with these two big films of a couple of decades younger heroes taking seats on the flight, Bala Krishna who seem to be shaking a leg or two with the youngest of the heroines doesn’t get a seat this time… In fact after a series of flops, fans of Bala Krishna Sir were expecting a massive hit in this film but on the canceled date of 10th, fans who were furious tore and burnt the posters. Better luck next time, Sir!!!

RAKHI’s Hexa Platinum Disc…

Tuesday, January 9th, 2007

Rakhi, what else can be said about the music in the film… than to say hats off!!! Generally, I don’t listen to such mass songs…

but the instantly hummable tunes by Devi Sri Prasad made me listen time and again. And now I found that I am not the only one… to do so…

On the night of 7 January 2007, the Hexa platinum disc function of Jr. NTR’s latest film Rakhi was held at Green Park hotel. Ace film director and the godfather of sentimental movie dramas, Dasari Narayana Rao graced the occasion as chief guest. The celebritiess who participated in this function include Jr. NTR, Krishna Vamsi, KL Narayana, S Gopal Reddy, Devi Sri Prasad, BVNS Prasad, ML Kumar Chowdary, Dil Raju, Rajamouli, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Raju Harwani etc. And the for all the fans of Jr. NTR, the good news in the new year is the looks of their beloved star were stunning to say the least. Blue denims, silky navy blue shirt, and last but not the least, the slimmest body that he ever had… all made him look handsome… All the best for his upcoming movies…
